Presidential Pets
Hallie continues to leave the radio on during the day, so I am learning so much about the presidential candidates. Lately, I’m really liking “Bark Obama.” His name just sounds so dog friendly. Since the candidates refuse to talk about any dog issues, I decided to do some research to learn if any of these folks have pets. Thank goodness for the internet, after a few clicks, I found just what I was looking for. Most of the candidates seem to have some connection to a pet. Here’s the lowdown:
DEMOCRATS:
Dennis Kucinich: If having pets was a criteria for being a president, he is clearly the front runner in my book. He has 3 rescue dogs – Harry, the beagle basset, Lucie, the beagle and George the cocker spaniel.
Hillary Clinton: She has a lab named Seamus.
John Edwards: He has a golden retriever and a chocolate lab – I couldn’t find out their names.
Joe Biden (remember him?): He has a cat.
Bill Richardson: He Has two cats, Squeaky and Jake.
Bark Obama: He currently has no pets. However, he has promised his kids that they will get a dog after the election. Right… with all of the change going on in that family, they need a dog like a hole in their head. I just hope they go the rescue route.
REPUBLICANS:
John McCain: This guy has it all. He has Sam, the springer spaniel, and a mutt named Coco. He has Oreo, the cat, that’s black and white. He also has two turtles, a ferret, 3 parakeets, and 13 saltwater fish. If he wins, he can set up a petting zoo at the White House.
Duncan Hunter: He has two black labs, Boo and Hunter (Isn’t that weird to name your dog after yourself?)
Mike Huckabee: He has Jet, a black lab and Sonic, the shih tzu.
Rudy Guliani and Mitt Romney – No pets. (Why does that not surprise me?)
Given the above information, it is really a shock that the candidates are not talking more about dogs and our concerns. It seems like labs are really an over represented breed with this group, so labs everywhere should unite and make their voices heard by their humans. As I like to say, “Go Dog Go.”

We had a WordPress Caucus and have decided that Troop will run for President and Jonesy for Veep on the Dogmocratic ticket.
Come by my blog and read, “THE CALIFORNIA PRIMARY ELECTION HAS GONE TO THE DOGS.”
